Can You Explain Cell Organelles?

Cell organelles are the parts of cells. Both membrane-bound and non-membrane-bound organelles can be found within cells and provide specialized tasks. Together, they help the cell do its regular activities. Some have a role in giving a cell its form and structure, while others help it move and divide. Depending on whether or not they have a membrane, organelles can be placed into one of three groups.

Cell Membrane

Cell membrane and cytoplasmic membrane are other names for the plasma membrane. The cell membrane consists of a lipid bilayer and proteins and is selectively permeable.

A plasma membrane is present in all cell types, including those of plants and animals. It serves as the cell’s selectively permeable membrane, allowing just certain substances in or out of the cell at any one time. The cell membrane of an animal cell has the dual role of providing structure and shielding the cell’s internal organelles.

Both plant and animal cells have cytoplasm. Between the cell membrane and the nucleus, you’ll find these jellylike substances. Water, organic and inorganic components make up the bulk of their make-up. All the organelles of the cell are suspended in the cytoplasm, making it a crucial part of the cell.

All eukaryotic cells have nuclei, which are double-membraned organelles. It stores the cell’s genetic material and serves as the cell’s command center, making it the largest organelle. The nucleus is characterized by its black color, its spherical shape, and its membrane boundary. It separates the cytoplasm from the nucleus and is permeable (like a cell membrane). Nucleolus are little spherical structures that can be found inside the nucleus. It also carries something called chromosomes, which is very important.

ER, or the Endoplasmic Reticulum,

Fluid-filled membranous channels are what make up the Endoplasmic Reticulum. The cytoskeleton is the cellular transport system, responsible for moving molecules and atoms around the cell.
The Endoplasmic Reticulum can be either of two types:

Rough endoplasmic reticulum are structures in the cell that are important in protein synthesis and consist of cisternae, tubules, and vesicles.
The smooth endoplasmic reticulum is the organelle responsible for storing nutrients, producing lipids and steroids, and detoxifying the cell.

Mitochondria get their nickname “powerhouses of the cell” because of their role in generating cellular energy. In many species, the mitochondrial genome is passed down from the mother. It is an organelle with the shape of a sausage and is surrounded by two membranes.

Pigments are stored in plastids, which are huge organelles surrounded by a membrane. Chloroplasts, Chromoplasts, and Leucoplasts are the three main categories of plastids based on the pigments they contain.
